Notes from last Monday's meeting - Oct. 31:
Our speaker was Tom Schumacher, Bay Area Community Council. Tom’s presentation involved a white paper regarding economic development in our community. That report can be found at http://www.bayareacommunitycouncil.org/2016-economic-development-report
Jeff Mirkes was honored as our newest Paul Harris Fellow. Thank you, Jeff, for your contributions to the Rotary International Foundation.
NO NOON MEETING THIS MONDAY, NOV. 7
Monday, Nov. 7, 5 p.m.: Our club event will be held at HSHS St. Vincent Hospital, 835 S Van Buren St. Introduction to the Child Life Program and tour of the St. Vincent Childrens Hospital. Meet promptly at 5 p.m. in the main lobby on Van Buren Street by the gift shop. The presentation and tour will be followed at 6:30 p.m. by social time at Jimmy Seas, 1330 Marine St, Green Bay. Please register for this event (or send your regrets) using the links that were emailed to all club members on Oct. 26. Park in the ramp located on Van Buren and Porlier. Jimmy Seas is normally closed on Monday but will be open for our event. Members are welcome to attend one or both events.

Monday, Nov. 14, 12 – 1 p.m.: Speaker: Diane Dappern, Rotary District Governor. Our monthly food drive will be held this day instead of the normal first Monday of the month due to the Nov. 7 evening gathering.

Volunteers Needed for JHoole Event
Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016 JHoole will be at the 42nd annual P.E.O. Gallerie of Shoppes at the KI Convention Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Judy Slawy from the Sheboygan Rotary Club is looking for Rotarians to assist in selling scarves for the JHoole project that day. You can contact email@example.com to let her know the time slot you would be able to assist.
Sign Up for Salvation Army Bell Ringing
The sign-up sheet that was passed around at our Oct. 31 meeting did not get collected so if you signed up, please contact Katie Quasius at Katie.Quasius@chrobinson.com to let her know what shift you want. You can also view the sign-up sheet attached to this email, fill in your time slot and email it to back to Katie. Lastly, anyone from our club can sign up for their own spots as well at www.ringbells.org and during the reservation process select "Rotary Club of Green Bay” as the group being represented.
Christmas Tree Jubilee Donations Needed
Christmas Tree Jubilee Gala is an evening dedicated to raising funds for advocacy and support for the local cancer community. The theme of our Rotary-sponsored Christmas tree is "Bobbers and Burlap.” Please donate fishing lures and bobbers or money in any amount to assist the committee in purchasing items to decorate the tree. We will be decorating the tree in mid-November and need all donations by Monday, Nov. 14. The Christmas Tree Jubilee Gala will be held Nov. 22 at Vandervest Harley-Davidson. Proceeds from the sale of our Rotary-sponsored Christmas tree go to Connect, Inc., which is a non-profit organization our fellow Rotarian Jennifer Hickey helps run here in Green Bay. Good News Recipient
By virtue of his perfect attendance, Larry Sarver chose this quarter’s recipient of our Good News giving, the Dorothy Rosenberg Good Will Place Food Pantry. It is at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Green Bay and serves over 11,000 people a year.
Lee Remmel Sports Awards
The De Pere Rotary Club will host its annual Lee Remmel Sports Awards on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Swan Club, 875 Heritage Rd, De Pere. Doors open at 6 p.m.; dinner at 7p.m., followed by award presentations. This year’s recipients: Distinguished Service Award: Mark Murphy, President and CEO, Green Bay Packers; Professional Achievement Award: Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers placekicker; Superior Achievement Award: Rod Kowalczyk, Retired De Pere High School Teacher/Coach/Athletic Director; Collegiate Achievement Award: Katie Vanden Avond, Division III Women’s Soccer All-time Scoring Leader, St. Norbert College. De Pere "Inside Innovation” Series
On Monday, November 21, De Pere Rotary and Kiwanis clubs will host their Inside Innovation speaker series. Christine Loose, Kohler Company, will be interviewed by Harry Maier, Green Bay Redevelopment Authority Chairman. Topics will include the new hotel in the Titletown District. Free admission.
